Dumpling - A moment to remember

The dumpling festival is a widely celebrated festival amongst the Chinese, to pay respect to the patriotic poet, Qu Yuan. While I do not know exactly the month of the dumpling festival when I was young, I knew that the festival was here when my granny started preparing the dumplings.   It was always a joy to watch my granny preparing the rice dumplings. I could still remember that she would start preparing the ingredients like the meat, chestnuts, the mushrooms and the dumpling leaves etc. Then she would prepare the charcoals which really took a long time to start the fire. After she had finished frying the meat and other ingredients, she will spend a considerable amount of time wrapping the dumplings. Lastly, she will placed all these dumplings in a big pot over the hot burning charcoal. She will then sit by the charcoal fanning the 2 big pots of rice dumpling.   The entire process took her a day but the end products - rice dumplings were fantastic. I must say, I have yet to

Dazzling Cafe in Singapore

Be dazzled with the latest cafe addition in Town - The Dazzling Cafe which is already so famous in Taiwan. Dazzling cafe is well known for its traditional honey toast along with other food offerings (such as pasta) that delighted many honey toast die hard fans all over Asia. Since I've heard so much about this cafe and have never tried it in Taiwan, I was quite keen to try it in Singapore even though it meant braving the queue. Dazzling cafe (Singapore) is located in Capitol Piazza, which used to be the old Capitol Theatre at Cityhall. Well, the location is quite accessible and can be easily reached by MRT. One should not miss the link from the train station to the mall, otherwise, you would be like the blur me, having to walk one big round to cross the road in order to reach the mall. It was a joy to be able to have a nice dinner after work and catching up with my dearest Hippo. As expected, there was a queue at the restaurant. As we were quite hungry, we decided to have o

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion @ The Sacred Lake

1. Trou Aux Cerfs   Trou Aux Cerfs is a dormant volcano with a well defined cone and crater. It is 605m high and located in Curepipe, Mauritius.   Our guide drove us to the viewpoint where we can have a glimpse of this so-called dormant crater. I would say that it doesn't quite look like a volcano crater. However, the surrounding view of the mountainous range was stunning. Drove by a lettuce farm on our way to curepipe The dormant volcano crater   The surrounding area in Cure Pipe    2. Grand Bassin   Ganga Talao, also known as "The Grand Bassin" is a crater lake situated in a secluded mountain area in the district of Savanne. It is considered as the most sacred Hindu place in Mauritius. There is a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and other Gods including Hanuman, Lakshmi, and others along the Grand Bassin.   The design of the Hindu temple is quite simple and not as elaborate as other Hindu temples. The temple has this stunning sacre
