Western Australia - Albany Fun

Rise and shine. It was our 2nd day at Albany. The weather was much better than yesterday. Sunlight was plenty and yet the weather was cooling at 16 degree. After having a quick breakfast of baked beans, sausages and pasta, all self-prepared at our apartment, we drove off to our first destination, Wind Farm. Wind Farm was located some 25 min drive away from our apartment. It was a huge natural reserve with rows of windmills near the coastal area. The scenic view was really awesome.

There were walking trails that brings you to the beach. Along the way, you can catch amazing views  of the windmills at different angles. It was really a nice cooling walk and I enjoyed myself very much.

We didn't walk to the beach as it was quite a distance away. However, if you are a active enthusiasts, making a trip down to the beach would definitely be recommended. Nonetheless, be careful of the big waves that might just swept one away if caught off-guard.

We then drove to the harbor side @ Oyster Town for some fresh oyster and fish and chips. The harbor side was a great place for fishing enthusiasts to hang out. There were many fishing boats parking along the harbor, where families were busy preparing their boats and fishing baits for their fishing trip. I must say, Aussie loves fishing.

Hubby was delighted to buy some fresh oyster from the oyster house. The staff was friendly and even allowed us to try the oyster before we decide if it was worth to buy. He even gave us some cooking recipes on how to best prepare the oysters.

Very quaint harbor

My hubby commented that the oysters were super fresh without any  fishy smell. He could easily finished a dozen. We had our lunch at the squid shack which sold calamari and of course fish and chips. Unlike the one we had at Peaceful Bay, they only  had 2 choice of fish selection, 'Bronze Whaler Shark' and 'Red Emporium'. It was interesting that Aussie would use shark meat for fish and chip. I thought sharks were protected in Australia?

Anyway, we decided to try the battered shark fish and chips and guess what, the meat was tender sweet, which tasted not too bad. However, my hubby finds the sweet taste weird.

It was a satisfying lunch for us and we decided to take a stroll at the harbor. There were many people preparing the baits for their fishing trip. I guess Aussie really knew how to relax and lived a well balanced life-style even on a weekday where most of us would be cooped up in the office for 8 hrs.

There were many seagulls by the seaside. They really looked cute in feathery white and blue eyes. Alfred seemed thrilled to see so many seagulls flying and cooing away.

Our next destination was to a very nice beach known as 'Two People's Bay". This beach was widely raved about on Tripadvisor and it's a must for us to check out this place. The beach is a beauty and I would definitely recommend this beach to anyone who wish to visit Albany. The beach had pristine white sand and clear turquoise water. In fact, when sunlight shone on the sea, the sea was a sparkling green. It was a small beach where water was calm without any strong waves. However, at the other side of the beach, the water  was deeper and many people were on the rock fishing for salmons. In fact, within minutes, one could easily fished a salmon.

We met 2 Aussie fishing by the beach and we were surprised when they said they were fishing for Bronze Whaler Sharks. Such calming beach and there were sharks in there? Anyway, swimming was never safe in Australia beach and we've heard of many shark attacks incidents in the Australia's water. If you want to take a dip in this turquoise pool, I would say, please think twice.

It was evening when we arrived at Middleton beach to catch the sunset. Middleton beach was another swimming beach where many people came for swimming, surfing and board paddling. This was another great place for a leisure walk with amazing scenic view.

We ended our day with a ice-cream treat for Alfred before heading back to Venice restaurant for some real delicious pizza. It was awesome ! I'm going to miss it back in Singapore.

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion

Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent. Together with my Diva friend, we travelled to Mauritius in 2014 for our first ever girls trip or what we called as our "Elephant & Hippo Honeymoon". Although Mauritius is an island, the entire island is at least twice bigger than Singapore. Flights to Mauritius are somewhat limited. The airlines that flew to Mauritius include Air Mauritius, Emirates, British Airway and Air France. From Singapore, it took about 10 hours to reach Mauritius, including an hour transit at KL. Despite the long haul flight, I would say Mauritius is worth the visit at least once in your lifetime. I'm glad to have traveled with my Diva friend to this exotic place. Jeju, an island of love and romance Day 2

From its summery island beaches to its statuesque Hallasan Mountain, verdant O'Sulloc green tea fields, and its iconic Sunrise Peak @ Seongsan IIchubang, Jeju Island is an icon in South Korea. Not forgetting the famous Jeju tangerine, a citrus fruit lauded across Jeju island at large. Hence, we decided to go to a local tangerine farm to find out.  I couldn't quite remember the name of the tangerine farm but it took us quite some time to locate it. The farm was near a neighborhood where every household grew their own tangerine trees at their yard/garden. It was quite a sight as this was my first time seeing a tangerine tree.  Anyway, if you like oranges and the idea of trampling through the orchards in search of that perfect fruit, then you've got to come during the tangerine season (which is like from November onwards). Tangerine picking in my opinion is quite an inexpensive activity in Jeju. We googled this tangerine farm not far from the city where tourists and...

Mauritius, An Island Of Emotion @ Chamarel, Black River Gorges and great Seafood lunch

1. Seven Coloured Earth @ Charamel The Seven Coloured Earth is a geological formation and prominent tourist attraction found in the Chamarel Plain of Riviere Noire District in South-western Mauritius. How interesting!   It is in fact a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (i.e. red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). In fact, the colours are dependent on the sunlight. The main feature of the place is that since these differently coloured sands spontaneously settle in different layers, dunes acquire a surrealistic, striped colouring. At the entrance of the Seven Coloured Earth, there is this beautiful Chamarel Waterfall. Although this is not the most magnificent waterfall that I've seen, this waterfall is the highest in Mauritius.
