Wineglass Bay and Bay of Fire

One of the must-do experiences in Tasmania is hiking at the breathtaking Wineglass Bay, nestled within the stunning Freycinet Peninsula. Renowned for its dramatic cliffs and untouched natural beauty, this gem onTasmania's east coast is a paradies for nature lovers. The bay's pristine sands curve gracefully into a sparkling turquoise sea, framed by lush green hills and striking granite mountains. Capturing the awe-inspiring scenery, Wineglass Bay has earned its title as the most photographed vista in Tasmani. I cant' wait to immerse myself in its serene landscape and take in the captivating views.

We started our day with an invigorating hike up to the magnificent Wineglass Bay Lookout, where stunning panoramic views unfold before our eyes, revealing the sparkling azure waters of the bay below. This breathtaking vantage point allows us to soak in the enchanting beauty of the crescent-shaped beach. The ascent to the Lookout was a delightful challenge, featuring a few steep stretches that added a sense of adventure to our journey. With every step, the crisp, refreshing air enveloped us, invigorating our spirits, while the cool climate provided a perfect backdrop for our exploration. The sun cast a gentle warmth over the landscape, creating an idyllic atmosphere for a leisurely stroll. Every moment spent in this picturesque setting felt like a slice of paradise!

After soaking in the breathtaking views at the lookout, we began our descent to the stunning white beach that shimmered like diamonds beneath the sun. The hike was a gentle slope, with the fragrant scent of saltwater and wildflowers filling the air, but I could not shake the though of the grueling climb back up afterward. As we enjoyed the soft sands underfoot and the sound of waves crashing nearby, I knew the challenge that awaited me. When it was finally time to return, every step felt like a battle against gravity; I pushed through, calling on every ounce of strength and determination to conquer the steep path back to the top.

I never regretted my decision to spend a vibrant day at the beach. The scene buzzed with life as small clusters of people immersed themselves in various activities: some cast their fishing lines into the water, while others splashed joyfully in waives, their laughter mingling with the sound of crashing surf. Sunbathers lounged on colorful towels, soaking up the warm rays, and children skillfully molded damp sand into towering castles adorned with seashells. The gentle breeze swept through the beach, ruffling hair and bringing with it salty scent of the ocean, while the sky stretched out in a brilliant blue canvas, alive with the graceful flight of seagulls gliding overhead.

We said our goodbyes to this amazing beach and made our way to the renowned Lobster Shack. This charming eatery is often hailed as one of the best places to enjoy fresh lobster in Tasmania. As we settled in, the aroma of the sea filled the air, heightening our anticipation for what was to come. When the succulent lobsters and plump oysters arrived at our table, they were nothing short of sensational, each bite a delightful burst of flavor that truly made the experience unforgettable! P.S. We had butter garlic lobsters which we think were better than other options such as grilled cheese lobster.

After indulging in a delicious meal that left us pleasantly satisfied, we ventured out for a leisurely stroll to the Bicheno Blowhole. Here, the waves crash against granite rocks, creating an enchanting spectacle as even the smallest swells transform into dramatic jets of water shooting skyward.

As the sun dipped lower on the horizon, casting a warm glow over everything, we made our way to the stunning Bay of Fire. This magical place is where pristine white beaches meet crystalline seas, and the vibrant orange rocks stand in stark contrast against the blue waters. I was captivated by the fiery hues of the granite formations, their colours shimmering in the fading light. The Bay of Fire earned its name from an English navigator, who upon seeing the flickering fires of the Tasmanian Aboriginal people dotting the coastline, was inspired by the warm, glowing scene before him.

Afterward, we checked into our airbnb, which was both spacious and inviting, complete with a sprawling yard that offered plenty of room to relax and unwind. For dinner, we prepared a delightful meal featuring Cape Grim beef, renowed for its exceptional quality and raised on lush pastures. It truly is a must-try if you find yourself in Tasmania!

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion

Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent. Together with my Diva friend, we travelled to Mauritius in 2014 for our first ever girls trip or what we called as our "Elephant & Hippo Honeymoon". Although Mauritius is an island, the entire island is at least twice bigger than Singapore. Flights to Mauritius are somewhat limited. The airlines that flew to Mauritius include Air Mauritius, Emirates, British Airway and Air France. From Singapore, it took about 10 hours to reach Mauritius, including an hour transit at KL. Despite the long haul flight, I would say Mauritius is worth the visit at least once in your lifetime. I'm glad to have traveled with my Diva friend to this exotic place. Day 6: Grindelwald and Jungfraujoch Top of Europe

We woke up to a pleasant day with perfect weather. It was no longer rainy and instead rays of sunshine brightened up the entire  town of Grindelwald. The view was perfect right from the moment I opened my room's window. Before I continue with my blog on our journey for the day, let me introduce you to our cosy accommodation in Grindelwald, Hotel Lauberhorn, located within a short distance from the main train station. If you are too lazy to walk, fret not because there are buses available from the train station to reach the hotel. What I really like about this hotel is the bright and cheery exterior, well decorated outdoor garden and lounge, lift in the hotel to reach your rooms (this was indeed a surprise) and lastly very nice view of the mountain coupled with yummy croissants for breakfast. We had a corner room to ourselves without any balcony because the hotel was fully booked during our visit. The room was sparkly clean with modern bathroom facilities and even a heater....
