Mauritius, An Island of Emotion, An awesome flying experience and classy villa staycation

Think of Mauritius and the images of the clear, turquoise and sparkling sea came to my mind! It's an exciting day for us because my Hippo friend and I will be experiencing our very first paragliding over the beautiful sea surrounded by the beautiful mountain.

To save time, we decided to have our paragliding at Grand Baie Beach. I would say that Grand Baie Beach is not the prettiest at Mauritius, thanks to the booming development and hence the beach is over-crowded with people and of course, restaurant and many of the catamaran and small leisure crafts floating by the seaside.

We arrived at the beach and boarded this cute small yellow boat with the word "Paragliding" printed on it. Soon, we headed out to the sea and started our Paragliding activity. The experience of taking flight from the boat and drifting up high into the sky was amazing! It was not frightening at all. Up above, the entire view of Grand Baie was stunning. I really hope this activity could last longer.

With some signaling, you can get the guide to fly you even higher to lower down to get some splashing of the cold Indian Ocean water. Of course, I choose both. One moment, I'm drifting higher and higher, and the very next moment, I'm splashing my feet in the cold sparkling water! What an amazing experience. My Hippo friend was quite nervous because she cannot swim. The very moment she fly up into the sky, I could see that all her nervousness just faded away! She was waving at me and enjoying her ride.

After paragliding, the guide brought us to lunch at this restaurant called "Amigo". It was here where we rewarded ourselves to a big plate of lobster! The lobster meal was definitely the best I had in Mauritius and oh-la-la, the flavorful taste of the buttery gravy was unforgettable! Of course, seafood meals in Mauritius wasn't cheap but for the freshness, I would say, it's worth it!

The meal that cost us S$110 each.

We then checked in Athena Villa located near Grand Baie, our last 2 nights of accommodation at Mauritius. The villa was huge and cosy. The interior design and the furnishing in the villa is modern and the best part is that we have our private pool just outside of the living room and master bedroom. You can also request for the pool to be heated up during the winter at a minimum of 10 euro dollars. The villa has everything you need....complete with a modern kitchenette and large dinning table. It's really a classy accommodation perfect for some serious relaxation!

The villa also has its private beach club at the stunning Trou Aux Biches that is located 20 mins drive away from the villa. The villa does provide shuttle bus at a minimal fee of 15 euro to the beach and then onwards to the town of Grand Baie.

Trou Aux Biches is definitely a better beach than Grand Baie. The long stretch of sandy beach, shaded by the casuarinas trees and the crystal clear sparkling water is definitely inviting for beach lovers to either take a dip into the water or just lie there for the perfect sun tanning.

As part of the beach was private and only accessible to the resort guests, the beach appeared to be less crowded. The beach also offered a variety of sea activities such as kayaking, surfing, boat pedaling, paragliding and surfing etc. However, prices of these activities were not cheap. Me and my Hippo friend decided to kayak and relax in this blue turquoise lagoon.

The beach is generally great for swimming or just dipping into the mild temperature water. For us, we couldn't be happier camwhoring away and having girls talk by the sea.  I could just laze there on the white sandy beach for hours or simply gazed into the ocean. The sunset at the beach was the most amazing one I've ever seen. As the big orange yolk slowly sets into the sea, the surrounding looks amazing in golden yellow! It's really a great place to relax and chill quietly.

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion

Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent. Together with my Diva friend, we travelled to Mauritius in 2014 for our first ever girls trip or what we called as our "Elephant & Hippo Honeymoon". Although Mauritius is an island, the entire island is at least twice bigger than Singapore. Flights to Mauritius are somewhat limited. The airlines that flew to Mauritius include Air Mauritius, Emirates, British Airway and Air France. From Singapore, it took about 10 hours to reach Mauritius, including an hour transit at KL. Despite the long haul flight, I would say Mauritius is worth the visit at least once in your lifetime. I'm glad to have traveled with my Diva friend to this exotic place. Jeju, an island of love and romance Day 2

From its summery island beaches to its statuesque Hallasan Mountain, verdant O'Sulloc green tea fields, and its iconic Sunrise Peak @ Seongsan IIchubang, Jeju Island is an icon in South Korea. Not forgetting the famous Jeju tangerine, a citrus fruit lauded across Jeju island at large. Hence, we decided to go to a local tangerine farm to find out.  I couldn't quite remember the name of the tangerine farm but it took us quite some time to locate it. The farm was near a neighborhood where every household grew their own tangerine trees at their yard/garden. It was quite a sight as this was my first time seeing a tangerine tree.  Anyway, if you like oranges and the idea of trampling through the orchards in search of that perfect fruit, then you've got to come during the tangerine season (which is like from November onwards). Tangerine picking in my opinion is quite an inexpensive activity in Jeju. We googled this tangerine farm not far from the city where tourists and...

Mauritius, An Island Of Emotion @ Chamarel, Black River Gorges and great Seafood lunch

1. Seven Coloured Earth @ Charamel The Seven Coloured Earth is a geological formation and prominent tourist attraction found in the Chamarel Plain of Riviere Noire District in South-western Mauritius. How interesting!   It is in fact a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (i.e. red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). In fact, the colours are dependent on the sunlight. The main feature of the place is that since these differently coloured sands spontaneously settle in different layers, dunes acquire a surrealistic, striped colouring. At the entrance of the Seven Coloured Earth, there is this beautiful Chamarel Waterfall. Although this is not the most magnificent waterfall that I've seen, this waterfall is the highest in Mauritius.
