Mauritius, An Island of Emotion @ the Red Roof Church, Eureka House and Port Louis

1. Red Roof Church

The weather was great and perfect for a whole day excursions. First up on our itinerary is a visit to the red roof church at Cap Malheureux, located on the most northerly point of the island. This is the place where General John Abercrombie landed his troops when British first attacked the island. An iconic tiny chapel famous for its red roof, the Notre Dame Auxiliatrice is definitely worth a quick visit. I would say that this red roof church with the backdrop of the stunning beach and coin de mire makes the perfect site for photography, especially wedding photography.

2. Eureka House

The Eureka House is a jem that is not to be missed when visiting Mauritius. Situated at Moka, in the fresh and lush climate of central Mauritius, the famous residence "Eureka" was built during the French Colonial period and once belonged to a very well known Mauritian family. The main part of the estate has been turned into a museum and tourist can leisurely explore this magnificent colonial house, its lush garden and sown to the cascading river.

The house itself is full of history and I really enjoyed looking at the antique furniture, paintings, pianos, lamps,  porcelains and some portraits of the owners of the house.

You can easily spend up to 1.5 hours touring the entire house. The architecture of this Victorian house is really fascinating. Outside the house is a nicely maintained garden with a little trail down to a cascading waterfall and river. Due to time constraint, we didn't really walk down the trail to the waterfall.

3. Port Louis

Port Louis is the main city of Mauritius and if you go through Port Louis, you have got to visit the Caudan Waterfront which feature famous international fashion brands and fine jewellery. This is also a great place to socialize for an evening. Live entertainment features almost every night, and some pubs in the vicinity hold their "Happy Hour" from 6pm.

The shopping mall within Port Louis sells many arty hand-crafted items, perfect for buying as gifts to your love ones or friends. I would have definitely enjoy shopping there if not for the nosey guide that followed us from store to store.

Also, the famous Central Market is located in Port Louis, is the center of the local economy since Victorian times. This is a good place to get a feel for the everyday life of many locals. Watch the hawkers at work and buy some souvenirs, or, you can browse through the wide variety of authentic Mauritius fruit and vegetables, meat, fish and seafood.

I recalled a stall that sell very huge pumpkins as huge as 10kg each. The market place is really a nice place to visit and get the feel of what it's like for the daily life of the locals.

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion

Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent. Together with my Diva friend, we travelled to Mauritius in 2014 for our first ever girls trip or what we called as our "Elephant & Hippo Honeymoon". Although Mauritius is an island, the entire island is at least twice bigger than Singapore. Flights to Mauritius are somewhat limited. The airlines that flew to Mauritius include Air Mauritius, Emirates, British Airway and Air France. From Singapore, it took about 10 hours to reach Mauritius, including an hour transit at KL. Despite the long haul flight, I would say Mauritius is worth the visit at least once in your lifetime. I'm glad to have traveled with my Diva friend to this exotic place. One of the must-do experiences in Tasmania is hiking at the breathtaking Wineglass Bay, nestled within the stunning Freycinet Peninsula. Renowned for its dramatic cliffs and untouched natural beauty, this gem onTasmania's east coast is a paradies for nature lovers. The bay's pristine sands curve gracefully into a sparkling turquoise sea, framed by lush green hills and striking granite mountains. I cant' wait to immerse myself in its serene landscape and take in the captivating views.   We started our day with an invigorating hike up to the magnificent Wineglass Bay Lookout, where stunning panoramic views unfold before our eyes, revealing the sparkling azure waters of the bay below. This breathtaking vantage point allows us to soak in the enchanting beauty of the crescent-shaped beach. The ascent to the Lookout was a delightful challenge, featuring a few steep s...
