High-tea with a view @ The Lobby Lounge

Finally, I've had the time to enjoy a decent high-tea with my favorite people, Princess Jia @ the Lobby Lounge at Westin Hotel. With much excitement, we headed to Cityhall for Westin Hotel, thinking that Westin was still located in the 72 storey building. Much to my dismay, that is Fairmont hotel and not Westin. The staff at the concierge told us that Westin hotel has relocated to Raffles Place, beside the Asia Square Tower 2. What a blur sotong I turned out to.

We hurried via downtown line and alight at the downtown station. Just a mere 5 mins walk away, we reached the Westin Hotel. The bell boy welcomed us and directed us to the lift. We pressed 32nd floor and up we go for the high-tea splendor.

When the lift door opened, we could see the Lobby Lounge right away. There was a bar island in the middle and the tables and chairs were spacious and look towards the breathtaking views of the city, sea and habour, enhanced with abundance of natural light, and the courtesy of floor-to-ceiling windows. It was a luxury!

What makes the afternoon high-tea at Westin different from others is that of its wonderful combination of Seafood and Champagne. That is, no English tea or scones will be served. Instead, we had one glass of sparkling Veuve Clicquot champagne each. To entice our appetite further, the high-tea set comes with Alaska crab canape, one whole Poached Canadian Lobster, two freshly shucked oysters, tuna and avocado rolls, baked/fried oysters and one set of dessert consisting of Chocolate Ganache Cake, tarts, green-tea cheese cake, dark and white chocolate slabs and some apple crumbs.

We were first served a beautiful three-tier platter which contains many savoury delights such as Alaska Canape, Tuna Fried Beancurd (Tau Pok), Soft Sell Crab with avocado Salsa. Pretty, I would say....and along came our sparkling Veuve Clicquot Champagne!

Next, we were excited to be served the Poached Canadian Lobster that comes with three big spoonfuls of sauces - Lychee, garlic and onion sauce.

No afternoon tea id complete without sweets and we were delighted to be served a plateful of petite desserts - Chocolate Ganache Cake (My favourite), Lime Tart, Greentea Cheese Cake,

No afternoon tea is complete without some sweets. And sweets you shall have. Look forward to an array of petite desserts which includes Éclairs, Chocolate Ganache Cake, Key Lime Tarts, Mixed Berries Tarts, and fresh Strawberries coated with Chocolate and Pistachio Chocolate.

For the price of $85++, we've had the best of seafood, savory and sweet treats. It's really worth the price. Not to mention, the wonderful scenery really goes well with the great food and champagne, This venue is perfect for anyone who just want to dine and gaze into the sea, romantic for couples and perfect for girly talks as well!

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion

Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent. Together with my Diva friend, we travelled to Mauritius in 2014 for our first ever girls trip or what we called as our "Elephant & Hippo Honeymoon". Although Mauritius is an island, the entire island is at least twice bigger than Singapore. Flights to Mauritius are somewhat limited. The airlines that flew to Mauritius include Air Mauritius, Emirates, British Airway and Air France. From Singapore, it took about 10 hours to reach Mauritius, including an hour transit at KL. Despite the long haul flight, I would say Mauritius is worth the visit at least once in your lifetime. I'm glad to have traveled with my Diva friend to this exotic place. Jeju, an island of love and romance Day 2

From its summery island beaches to its statuesque Hallasan Mountain, verdant O'Sulloc green tea fields, and its iconic Sunrise Peak @ Seongsan IIchubang, Jeju Island is an icon in South Korea. Not forgetting the famous Jeju tangerine, a citrus fruit lauded across Jeju island at large. Hence, we decided to go to a local tangerine farm to find out.  I couldn't quite remember the name of the tangerine farm but it took us quite some time to locate it. The farm was near a neighborhood where every household grew their own tangerine trees at their yard/garden. It was quite a sight as this was my first time seeing a tangerine tree.  Anyway, if you like oranges and the idea of trampling through the orchards in search of that perfect fruit, then you've got to come during the tangerine season (which is like from November onwards). Tangerine picking in my opinion is quite an inexpensive activity in Jeju. We googled this tangerine farm not far from the city where tourists and...

Mauritius, An Island Of Emotion @ Chamarel, Black River Gorges and great Seafood lunch

1. Seven Coloured Earth @ Charamel The Seven Coloured Earth is a geological formation and prominent tourist attraction found in the Chamarel Plain of Riviere Noire District in South-western Mauritius. How interesting!   It is in fact a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (i.e. red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). In fact, the colours are dependent on the sunlight. The main feature of the place is that since these differently coloured sands spontaneously settle in different layers, dunes acquire a surrealistic, striped colouring. At the entrance of the Seven Coloured Earth, there is this beautiful Chamarel Waterfall. Although this is not the most magnificent waterfall that I've seen, this waterfall is the highest in Mauritius.
