Enchanting Tasmania @ Alice Cottage Launceston

I was extremely delighted to chance upon this lovely Welsh cottage located in Launceston and I knew that I've got to book this cottage for a night.

Nestled away on a quiet Launceston Street are the heritage cottages, each uniquely and tastefully themed with just a right touch of nostalgic old-world charm. There are various cottages to choose from - The English, Irish, Welsh and Scottish. As suggested by the names, each cottage has its charm and amenities.

It was hard to locate the cottage at first and the GPS kept leading us in the same street for a few rounds until we spotted a little sign board "Alice Cottage" at a corner drive though lane. The drive though entrance was quite narrow but with the excellent driving skill of my husband, we managed to maneuver our vehicle in and thereafter, slowing driving through a small beautiful rose garden. The roses were in full bloom and the air was thick with the sweet scent of the roses. We've finally arrived at our Welsh Cottage!

The checked in process was very easy as we only need to retrieve the keys from the lockbox. As I opened the door of the cottage with this ancient key, I squeaked with delight at the sight of this beautifully decorated country style kitchen, with beautiful porcelain plates hanging on the wall and tea-cups neatly tucked in the wooden cabinets. The kitchen had all the modern cooking equipment such as electric kettle, oven, cooking stove and coffee machine etc.

Next, I walked into the living quarter which has a lovely open fire-place and is beautifully decorated with more porcelain plates, paintings and charming wooden furnishing. I love how cozy the living room is and not to mention, the host was kind enough to provide us with a bottle of port stored inside an exquisite wine bottle.

The bedroom is next to the living room and it has this beautiful antique bed that made me feel like I've stepped back into the medieval period. I love solid wooden furniture, particularly those made from oak, ash or maple as they are timeless. Anyway, much to my surprise, the bed is super comfy!

The bathroom is definitely a surprise because it is comparable to a five star hotel. There is a huge jetted  bathtub, a walk in shower with fitted rainforest shower head and a huge vanity area.  The owner also prepared some cheese crackers and two breakfast set, neatly placed inside the fridge. The breakfast was simple and consisted of milk, eggs, juice, ham, toasts, butter and jam. However, it feels nice to have our breakfast in this beautiful cottage kitchen. You can also chill at the cottage mini courtyard and have a cup of coffee.

Overall, I had a wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage and would highly recommend this place to  those who wanted to experience a different kind of lodging, yet equipped with all the modern amenities. I would love to return again and stay in other themed cottages.

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion

Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent. Together with my Diva friend, we travelled to Mauritius in 2014 for our first ever girls trip or what we called as our "Elephant & Hippo Honeymoon". Although Mauritius is an island, the entire island is at least twice bigger than Singapore. Flights to Mauritius are somewhat limited. The airlines that flew to Mauritius include Air Mauritius, Emirates, British Airway and Air France. From Singapore, it took about 10 hours to reach Mauritius, including an hour transit at KL. Despite the long haul flight, I would say Mauritius is worth the visit at least once in your lifetime. I'm glad to have traveled with my Diva friend to this exotic place. Jeju, an island of love and romance Day 2

From its summery island beaches to its statuesque Hallasan Mountain, verdant O'Sulloc green tea fields, and its iconic Sunrise Peak @ Seongsan IIchubang, Jeju Island is an icon in South Korea. Not forgetting the famous Jeju tangerine, a citrus fruit lauded across Jeju island at large. Hence, we decided to go to a local tangerine farm to find out.  I couldn't quite remember the name of the tangerine farm but it took us quite some time to locate it. The farm was near a neighborhood where every household grew their own tangerine trees at their yard/garden. It was quite a sight as this was my first time seeing a tangerine tree.  Anyway, if you like oranges and the idea of trampling through the orchards in search of that perfect fruit, then you've got to come during the tangerine season (which is like from November onwards). Tangerine picking in my opinion is quite an inexpensive activity in Jeju. We googled this tangerine farm not far from the city where tourists and...

Mauritius, An Island Of Emotion @ Chamarel, Black River Gorges and great Seafood lunch

1. Seven Coloured Earth @ Charamel The Seven Coloured Earth is a geological formation and prominent tourist attraction found in the Chamarel Plain of Riviere Noire District in South-western Mauritius. How interesting!   It is in fact a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (i.e. red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). In fact, the colours are dependent on the sunlight. The main feature of the place is that since these differently coloured sands spontaneously settle in different layers, dunes acquire a surrealistic, striped colouring. At the entrance of the Seven Coloured Earth, there is this beautiful Chamarel Waterfall. Although this is not the most magnificent waterfall that I've seen, this waterfall is the highest in Mauritius.
