WorldDream Palace Suite Experience

How do you celebrate your hubby's big 40 and yet do not want to be stuck in this tiny island amidst the pandemic. Well, a 2 night staycation onboard World Dream is what I need to get myself recharged while celebrating my man's birthday in style. Without any hesitation, we booked a luxury Palace Suite and set sail for a 2 nights cruise to nowhere.

It was raining cats and dogs when we board the cruise but nothing could dampen my holiday mood as we headed straight to our suite with much anticipation. The Palace Suite is really beyond my expectation. The room size is big and compartmentalized into 4 segments - a huge bathroom complete with double sink, bathtub and rain shower, a living room equipped with a sofa and 55 inch TV, a huge comfy King size bed and a spacious balcony.

The suite also comes with complimentary wine, soft drinks, beers, snacks and fruits. What's even amazing is that we were assigned a butler who helped us with booking of entertainment shows and restaurants dining. Apart from these, the perks of staying in a suite is that we get priority check-in and check-out (which saves time for impatient people like me), dinning at the specialty restaurants free of charge and accessibility to the exclusive Suite Palace pool (meant only for the Palace Suite guests).

There were plenty of activities to enjoy for a 2 night cruise:

1. Exciting waterslides that set my faint heart pounding as I wheezed down the meandering slides. In fact, there were several slides of varying speed to choose from and we had a hell of a time trying out the different slides.

2. Esport Arena & Arcade for the games lovers, thrilling and full virtual reality (VR) games for the family. The VR games are not cheap but definitely worth the experience.

3. Zodiac theatre that airs performances by renowned dance troupe, showcasing the cruise's production, "Faith". I was totally captivated by the graceful dancers and aerialists. Apart from this, we also enjoyed  the magic show by the famous illusionist, Vincet Vignaud. The performance was indeed flawless, leaving us rewarded, enriched and hugely entertained. These shows are definitely world class and not to be missed. We were glad that our butler helped us to pre-book the show in advance as we were told that  many could not book the shows due to capacity restrictions.

4. The rope course and zipline is definitely a must try. Basically, we were taught how to handle the hooks before we embarked on this obstacle course  on Deck 18. The final part of this obstacle course is to zip ourselves across the water. Totally fun and not scary at all.

5. Mini-golf course and table tennis - These are good recreational activities. However, users need to pre-book for available slots which can be a hassle as these sports can be very popular amongst the children.

Dining is really something that I look forward to at World Dream. We were totally spoilt with a variety of cuisine from countless restaurants & bar concepts on board. Some of the best delicacies which are must tries include the Teppanyaki at Umi Uma. The garlic fried rice and mignon fillet are to die for. Not forgetting the live teppanyaki action brought about by the head chef which is truly entertaining.

If you are craving for lobster, just head to Seafood Grill by Mark Best for the highly impressive seafood platter which comprises of lobster, oysters and grilled fresh prawns, coupled with salad as appetizer, lobster bisque and complimentary focaccia bread which are so delicious, and ending with a tiramisu.

For those who are into Chinese cuisine (like my parents), head straight to the Silk Road for a posh old world glamor alongside exquisite Chinese dishes prepared skillfully by the master chefs. I've heard that before Covid, the restaurant served abalone!

Dinning at "The Palace" was equally amazing! Some of the food sampled:

The World Dream also provide happy hour  for suite guest where we can order wine absolutely free of charge. We drank to our hearts content. In my opinion, one of the best perks that I  enjoyed.

All in all, it was an enjoyable getaway with so much activities to fill our time.  It is only a matter of whether you want to engage or not. We were not bored at all!

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion

Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent. Together with my Diva friend, we travelled to Mauritius in 2014 for our first ever girls trip or what we called as our "Elephant & Hippo Honeymoon". Although Mauritius is an island, the entire island is at least twice bigger than Singapore. Flights to Mauritius are somewhat limited. The airlines that flew to Mauritius include Air Mauritius, Emirates, British Airway and Air France. From Singapore, it took about 10 hours to reach Mauritius, including an hour transit at KL. Despite the long haul flight, I would say Mauritius is worth the visit at least once in your lifetime. I'm glad to have traveled with my Diva friend to this exotic place. Jeju, an island of love and romance Day 2

From its summery island beaches to its statuesque Hallasan Mountain, verdant O'Sulloc green tea fields, and its iconic Sunrise Peak @ Seongsan IIchubang, Jeju Island is an icon in South Korea. Not forgetting the famous Jeju tangerine, a citrus fruit lauded across Jeju island at large. Hence, we decided to go to a local tangerine farm to find out.  I couldn't quite remember the name of the tangerine farm but it took us quite some time to locate it. The farm was near a neighborhood where every household grew their own tangerine trees at their yard/garden. It was quite a sight as this was my first time seeing a tangerine tree.  Anyway, if you like oranges and the idea of trampling through the orchards in search of that perfect fruit, then you've got to come during the tangerine season (which is like from November onwards). Tangerine picking in my opinion is quite an inexpensive activity in Jeju. We googled this tangerine farm not far from the city where tourists and...

Mauritius, An Island Of Emotion @ Chamarel, Black River Gorges and great Seafood lunch

1. Seven Coloured Earth @ Charamel The Seven Coloured Earth is a geological formation and prominent tourist attraction found in the Chamarel Plain of Riviere Noire District in South-western Mauritius. How interesting!   It is in fact a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (i.e. red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). In fact, the colours are dependent on the sunlight. The main feature of the place is that since these differently coloured sands spontaneously settle in different layers, dunes acquire a surrealistic, striped colouring. At the entrance of the Seven Coloured Earth, there is this beautiful Chamarel Waterfall. Although this is not the most magnificent waterfall that I've seen, this waterfall is the highest in Mauritius.
