Yogyakarta - A new found place for Adventures

Timang Beach used to be an isolated spot, located at the end of a bumpy road from a quaint farming village. In recent years, tourist flooded this area, made famous by an episode of Running Man (Korean's variety show). One of the highlights is the yellow Gondola that takes the adventurous ones across the raging sea to a little island.

Personally, the sea-view is stunning. For a moment, I thought I was at Perth looking over the Indian Ocean. In case you aren't aware, I was told that Yogyakarta is located near  Australia and perhaps shared the same Indian Ocean.

As mentioned, tourist flocked to this beach to experience the Gondola, which was otherwise used by the fishermen to catch lobsters. Tourist can also choose the option of crossing over the little island by walking over the suspension bridge. Both options were thrilling, especially when waves were rough.

It was bright and sunny when we arrived after 30mins of bumpy jeep ride. The waves were quite calm beneath the perfect blue sky. We chose the Gondola ride and it was fun as we crossed over the crashing waves to the little island. The sight was one to behold.

Once on the island, you can wander about independently or if you love taking self portrait against the panoramic backdrop, fret not, the staff stationed at the island would be happy to help you with the pictures. Trust me, they are professional photographers.

After the beach, we headed for lunch at the seafood restaurant for the fresh lobsters. The lobsters were cheap at only $35 for 1kg. We definitely cannot get this price in Singapore, hence, we ate to our heart's content. One lobster for each of us! FYI, lobster is best cooked in butter garlic!

Timang beach is really a gem and I enjoyed the thrilling gondola ride, despite the long bumpy road to the beach. Highly recommended if you are visiting Yogyakarta.

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion

Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent. Together with my Diva friend, we travelled to Mauritius in 2014 for our first ever girls trip or what we called as our "Elephant & Hippo Honeymoon". Although Mauritius is an island, the entire island is at least twice bigger than Singapore. Flights to Mauritius are somewhat limited. The airlines that flew to Mauritius include Air Mauritius, Emirates, British Airway and Air France. From Singapore, it took about 10 hours to reach Mauritius, including an hour transit at KL. Despite the long haul flight, I would say Mauritius is worth the visit at least once in your lifetime. I'm glad to have traveled with my Diva friend to this exotic place.
