YOLO New Zealand @ Day 14 Adventures at Queenstown

As we bid our farewell to Franz Josef, we were eager to reach our next destination at Queenstown.  Queenstown need no introduction because its a renowned place for people craving for adventures.

My opinion of Queenstown is that it is an insanely beautiful place that is more than just being pretty. There are so many amazaing outdoor activities to try, adrenaline rushes to be had and ways to push yourself right out of your comfort zone and feel really, truly alive. Not only that, Queenstown boasts some damn delicious food, for instance, the insanely crowded Fergburger.

Anyway, on our way to Queenstown, we first visited a salmon farm and a country quilt store, short visits to amazing beaches and the beautiful waterfall at Thunder Creak Fall , followed by a fruit farm that sells lots of varierty of fresh fruits before arriving at our motel located in Queenstown.

Top on my list of to-dos at Queenstown are:

1. Shotover Jet
We arrived at Shotover River all ready to whip around and have some fun. The river view itself is spectacular too. As we started, we were totally blown out with the speed of the river jet. Fast and furious is the word to describe our ride but at the same time so fun and exciting. I was like a kid again, carefree and adventurous enough to try out something out of my norm. As we whizzed through the canyons  in some of the most beautiful scenery in the world, I was at some point mesmerized by the magnificent view before me, such that I've forgotten totally about the speed of the shotover jet. And before I can react, the jet is making a 360 degree turns that make my heart popped! It was way too high and fun! Both Hippo and I loved every second of it! There are also moments when we're almost airborne, skimming across the surface of the water like a stone. It's too exhilarating and adrenaline-fueled.

2. Skyline Gondola and Luge

Head up to the Skyline if you yearn for a great view over Queenstown and the lake. There 's also a resturant up there if you feel hungry or simply wanted to dine with a view. The skyline luge ride is really cool because it overlooked the entire Queenstown skyline. Fun and more Fun are the only words to describe the activity.

3. Paragliding

This is possibly the most memorable activity I've done at Queenstown. I would say that this is a very safe flight as we strap ourselves with a professional flyer with G-Force and throw ourselves off the side of a mountain. Before we knew it, we were slowly floating and enjoying the spectacular sight over Queenstown and Lake Wakatipu!

4. Heli-hike to the Remarkables

Since we missed our heli-hike at Franz Josef, we decided to at least go for a heli-hike to the Remarkables. Boarding our helicopter was truly a unique experience. I imagined myself as a spy in the James Bond Movie, flying to accomplish a impossible mission. Nevertheless, as we ascend upwards and over Lake Wakatipu, the scenery was too stunning. Soone, we reached the summit of the Remarkables for a landing. As we stepped out of our helicopter, we were wowed by the amazing views before us - the entire Queenstown, Fiordland and beyond.

5. Fergburger

This famous burger store is located at Shotover Street in Queenstown and is a favourite with tourists and locals alike. Reasonably priced in New Zealand, there is always a long queue of customers lining up to make orders and take a number. People in fact patiently wait for their turns in line! Luckily for us, the queue was quite manageable and hence we had our bites at these burger.

I would say that the burgers are huge and very over-sized! I ordered a chicken burger and I thought that the apple sauce was delicious. Not so much of the chicken cutlet though. The fries were nicely done but I prefer the ones I had at Fuel Burger. All in all, it was worth our time to queue for the burger. Remember to get the Aioli sauce (only in New Zealand) to complete your burger set. The tastiest I've ever had.

6. Chill and relax at the harbour and have some fun shopping

I remembered that there was shopping lane near the Harbour and I personally loved visiting Glasson boutique. Anyway, the harbour is a great place to chill, relax with some ice-cream, cakes  and coffee.

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion

Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent. Together with my Diva friend, we travelled to Mauritius in 2014 for our first ever girls trip or what we called as our "Elephant & Hippo Honeymoon". Although Mauritius is an island, the entire island is at least twice bigger than Singapore. Flights to Mauritius are somewhat limited. The airlines that flew to Mauritius include Air Mauritius, Emirates, British Airway and Air France. From Singapore, it took about 10 hours to reach Mauritius, including an hour transit at KL. Despite the long haul flight, I would say Mauritius is worth the visit at least once in your lifetime. I'm glad to have traveled with my Diva friend to this exotic place. Jeju, an island of love and romance Day 2

From its summery island beaches to its statuesque Hallasan Mountain, verdant O'Sulloc green tea fields, and its iconic Sunrise Peak @ Seongsan IIchubang, Jeju Island is an icon in South Korea. Not forgetting the famous Jeju tangerine, a citrus fruit lauded across Jeju island at large. Hence, we decided to go to a local tangerine farm to find out.  I couldn't quite remember the name of the tangerine farm but it took us quite some time to locate it. The farm was near a neighborhood where every household grew their own tangerine trees at their yard/garden. It was quite a sight as this was my first time seeing a tangerine tree.  Anyway, if you like oranges and the idea of trampling through the orchards in search of that perfect fruit, then you've got to come during the tangerine season (which is like from November onwards). Tangerine picking in my opinion is quite an inexpensive activity in Jeju. We googled this tangerine farm not far from the city where tourists and...

Mauritius, An Island Of Emotion @ Chamarel, Black River Gorges and great Seafood lunch

1. Seven Coloured Earth @ Charamel The Seven Coloured Earth is a geological formation and prominent tourist attraction found in the Chamarel Plain of Riviere Noire District in South-western Mauritius. How interesting!   It is in fact a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (i.e. red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). In fact, the colours are dependent on the sunlight. The main feature of the place is that since these differently coloured sands spontaneously settle in different layers, dunes acquire a surrealistic, striped colouring. At the entrance of the Seven Coloured Earth, there is this beautiful Chamarel Waterfall. Although this is not the most magnificent waterfall that I've seen, this waterfall is the highest in Mauritius.
