Shop & Eat & Shop like there's no tomorrow @ Myeongdong + Enchanting Namsan Park

Seoul is a paradise for many shopaholic. From cosmetics to brand name, clothing to K-Pop souvenirs to artsy bric-a-brac, there's no shortage of it in Seoul. Even the subway stations have mini shopping malls.

@Myeongdong

Myeong-dong is one of the primary shopping districs in Seoul and arguably its most impressive. It's home to many mid-to-high end stores like Forever 21, Bulgari and Louis Vuitton, just to name a few. However, the most notable stores would be the endless range of Korean cosmetic stores (e.g. Laneige, Natural Republic, Etude House, Innis Free etc). Like any ordinary tourist, my aim was to buy these cosmetics at reasonable prices. There were many promotions during my visit and hence my objective was met and I'm super satisfied with my purchases.

Other than being a shopping paradise, Myeongdong has got lots of street food. My personal favourite was the push-cart there sells freshly squeezed lemon juice. It's a little sour and sweet, definitely refreshing that will load you with energy to shop the entire day. FYI, this lemonade drink is very popular in Myeondong. Hence, you can never miss it.

A Nescafe Café, how cool

Getting There:
By Subway, get off at Myeongdong station (line 4), exits 5,6,7 or 8.

@Namsan Park

A visit to Namsan Park is definitely a must if you are in Seoul. In fact, if you are at Myeondong district, you should make your way there. Namsan Park is located South of Myeongdong and is very popular for hiking as well as the ride up the Seoul Tower, where visitors will be wowed by the panoramic views of downtown Seoul. Namsan is one of the largest park in Seoul that attracts both the locals and the tourists from all over the world.

Elevator to the ropeway up Namsan Park

We took a ropeway from the base of Namsan Mountain to the Seoul Tower. Along the way, the view was spectacular. Once we reached the Seoul Tower, the view of the downtown Seoul was mind-blowing.

The Seoul Tower is really a romantic place and you can see couples or group of friends everywhere. Love is simply in the air and the trees of love lock certainly makes the entire place more romantic. Hence, if you would like to write a love message and chained that message to the trees with your love ones, please do buy the lock from the Seoul Tower. Other than these trees of love lock, there were many heart-break benches around which kinda confused the romantic mood in the park. I supposed the message that the artist is trying to deliver is that when there is love, occasionally, there is often heart-break! Perhaps, I have been thinking too much!

We chose to walk around the park than to take the elevator up the Seoul Tower. The park was lovely with blooming cherry blossoms. How lucky I was to see these cherry blossoms on the fall of Spring. It certainly adds more charm to the already enchanting park.

On another side of the park, I saw the whole stretch of fortress wall (something like the Great Wall of China) which I supposed was built to defend the city in the past. As we descended from the park, I caught the prettiest sunset that slowly dived down and disappeared before the fortress wall.

Soon, we were at the bottom of the park and we decided to wander about and unknowingly, we reached Hilton Hotel where I chanced upon the filming site of this rotating hotel door as shown in my favourite K-Pop drama - Kim Sam Soong.

I really love my walk in the park and if I am back in Seoul, I will definitely visit this park again! We went back to Myeongdong for dinner and treat ourselves to Korean BBQ - A must when you are at Korea!

Saw this fruity popsicle and I must have it!

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion

Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent. Together with my Diva friend, we travelled to Mauritius in 2014 for our first ever girls trip or what we called as our "Elephant & Hippo Honeymoon". Although Mauritius is an island, the entire island is at least twice bigger than Singapore. Flights to Mauritius are somewhat limited. The airlines that flew to Mauritius include Air Mauritius, Emirates, British Airway and Air France. From Singapore, it took about 10 hours to reach Mauritius, including an hour transit at KL. Despite the long haul flight, I would say Mauritius is worth the visit at least once in your lifetime. I'm glad to have traveled with my Diva friend to this exotic place. Jeju, an island of love and romance Day 2

From its summery island beaches to its statuesque Hallasan Mountain, verdant O'Sulloc green tea fields, and its iconic Sunrise Peak @ Seongsan IIchubang, Jeju Island is an icon in South Korea. Not forgetting the famous Jeju tangerine, a citrus fruit lauded across Jeju island at large. Hence, we decided to go to a local tangerine farm to find out.  I couldn't quite remember the name of the tangerine farm but it took us quite some time to locate it. The farm was near a neighborhood where every household grew their own tangerine trees at their yard/garden. It was quite a sight as this was my first time seeing a tangerine tree.  Anyway, if you like oranges and the idea of trampling through the orchards in search of that perfect fruit, then you've got to come during the tangerine season (which is like from November onwards). Tangerine picking in my opinion is quite an inexpensive activity in Jeju. We googled this tangerine farm not far from the city where tourists and...

Mauritius, An Island Of Emotion @ Chamarel, Black River Gorges and great Seafood lunch

1. Seven Coloured Earth @ Charamel The Seven Coloured Earth is a geological formation and prominent tourist attraction found in the Chamarel Plain of Riviere Noire District in South-western Mauritius. How interesting!   It is in fact a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (i.e. red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). In fact, the colours are dependent on the sunlight. The main feature of the place is that since these differently coloured sands spontaneously settle in different layers, dunes acquire a surrealistic, striped colouring. At the entrance of the Seven Coloured Earth, there is this beautiful Chamarel Waterfall. Although this is not the most magnificent waterfall that I've seen, this waterfall is the highest in Mauritius.
