Disney wonderland @ HongKong Part 1

I've always wanted to visit Disneyland since my childhood days. It sounds laughable to visit this magical place for the first time at 30 years old but I'm glad that it's never too late to achieve one of my dream.

My parents were average income earners and hence I've got no chance to visit Disneyland as a child unlike many of my friends who got the opportunity to visit Disney during the summer vacation. However, I've never lamented my parents for not bringing me to Disney because some 15 years down the road, I know that I'll be there

When I first step into this magical place, I am running with emotions for my dream has come true!Walt Disney, as all of us know, is the founder of Walt Disney Company, had also developed the Disney Theme Parks some 60 years ago, evoking happiness and innocence and sharing of memory-making experiences. Hong Kong Disneyland continues the tradition in new and unique way. I am indeed thrilled to hear that Disneyland had choosen to operate at Hong Kong because I can easily fly there within 4 hours instead of travelling further to other Disneyland in Tokyo or Paris. Of course, the Disneyland at Hong Kong is much smaller as compared to the rest. But, well, who cares because I know that this is the same Disney that will bring the same delights to children all around the world.

Arriving at Hong Kong International Airport, there is a direct Disney Train to the amazing Disney resort. It was super convinient to get there. The Disney train was simply too cute and upon boarding the train, I knew that the magical kingdom was just minutes away.

There were 2 Disney hotels: The Hong Kong Disneyland hotel with its grand victorian elegant design and The Disney Hollywood Hotel with a chic and modern design. Of course, The Hong Kong Disneyland hotel would be my preferred choice but then the price is also on the higher side. Eventually, I convinced myself that a one night stay at the Disney Hollywood Hotel would be equally good enough.

And so we checked in to the Disney Hollywood Hotel. Within seconds, we had our key to the room. The room was nicely decorated and furnished with the same feel as Hard Rock Hotel. The room was indeed spacious and had 2 queen size beds that looked so comfortable. I am quite satisfied with the room. FYI, the room cost around S$450 per night.

After a quick tour of our room, we went for lunch at this famous Chinese restaurant, Crystal Lotus at The Disneyland Hotel. This restaurant is highly recommended by many bloggers visiting Hong Kong Disneyland.

The interior of the restaurant is indeed spectacular and grand. Everything, from the furniture, walls, artworks, table wares, chandeliers, carpets to the dinning cutlery are grand. There is also the signature lotus motiff that sprouts through the majestic restaurant. Having lunch here indeed made me feel like a royalty.

Crystal Lotus restaurant  also serves its signature dim sum that resembles some of our favorite Disney and Pixar characters. These delicately crafted dim sum  are not only a feast for the eyes, but are equally enjoyable to taste. We tried to order some of these cutesy dim sum which unfortunately were not available at that time. We settled for something else and ordered their famous crab fried rice which was really delicious, fried popiah, steamed dumplings and honey stir-fried spare-ribs.

The honey spare-ribs were delicious. Best that I've ever eaten.
Wonderful fried rice !!!
Crispy popiah...not oily at all :)

Lovely view of the garden from the restaurant

After a heavy lunch, we took a stroll at the maze outside the restaurant. The maze was huge and it feels like the maze in the "Alice in Wonderland" story book. Walking a little further ahead, you will see the vast ocean, where you can catch the cooling sea breeze. We walked along the ocean stretch before turning into the Disneyland Park for more fun moments.

Feeling excited already !

We are here !

It was super crowded at Disneyland and as usual, there were lots of mainland tourists who seems to be flooding all the touristy landmarks. To get your rides, you really need to be patient. Luckily, the weather was cooling and hence made our queue manageable.

There were many rides to choose from. We tried almost everyone of them, from the less trilling one to the more thrilling ones. Carousel, Dumbo the flying elephant, Light Buzz, bumper car etc....Just look at the pictures for the fun that we've had! Not forgetting the musical parade where all the Disney characters come to live to greet their fans!

Never too old to ride this !

And finally, the beautiful fireworks

It's impossible to comb the entire place in one day. Luckily for us, as guests of Disney, we had complimentary pass to visit the park again the next day! Besides the many fun rides, one should not miss the Lion King musical and the beautiful fireworks that starts around 7plus. It will be a pity to miss these magical moments in Disney.

So many people!

We'll be back tomorrow for more fun

Mauritius, An Island of Emotion

Mauritius, is an island nation in the Indian Ocean off the southeast coast of the African continent. Together with my Diva friend, we travelled to Mauritius in 2014 for our first ever girls trip or what we called as our "Elephant & Hippo Honeymoon". Although Mauritius is an island, the entire island is at least twice bigger than Singapore. Flights to Mauritius are somewhat limited. The airlines that flew to Mauritius include Air Mauritius, Emirates, British Airway and Air France. From Singapore, it took about 10 hours to reach Mauritius, including an hour transit at KL. Despite the long haul flight, I would say Mauritius is worth the visit at least once in your lifetime. I'm glad to have traveled with my Diva friend to this exotic place. Jeju, an island of love and romance Day 2

From its summery island beaches to its statuesque Hallasan Mountain, verdant O'Sulloc green tea fields, and its iconic Sunrise Peak @ Seongsan IIchubang, Jeju Island is an icon in South Korea. Not forgetting the famous Jeju tangerine, a citrus fruit lauded across Jeju island at large. Hence, we decided to go to a local tangerine farm to find out.  I couldn't quite remember the name of the tangerine farm but it took us quite some time to locate it. The farm was near a neighborhood where every household grew their own tangerine trees at their yard/garden. It was quite a sight as this was my first time seeing a tangerine tree.  Anyway, if you like oranges and the idea of trampling through the orchards in search of that perfect fruit, then you've got to come during the tangerine season (which is like from November onwards). Tangerine picking in my opinion is quite an inexpensive activity in Jeju. We googled this tangerine farm not far from the city where tourists and...

Mauritius, An Island Of Emotion @ Chamarel, Black River Gorges and great Seafood lunch

1. Seven Coloured Earth @ Charamel The Seven Coloured Earth is a geological formation and prominent tourist attraction found in the Chamarel Plain of Riviere Noire District in South-western Mauritius. How interesting!   It is in fact a relatively small area of sand dunes comprising sand of seven distinct colours (i.e. red, brown, violet, green, blue, purple and yellow). In fact, the colours are dependent on the sunlight. The main feature of the place is that since these differently coloured sands spontaneously settle in different layers, dunes acquire a surrealistic, striped colouring. At the entrance of the Seven Coloured Earth, there is this beautiful Chamarel Waterfall. Although this is not the most magnificent waterfall that I've seen, this waterfall is the highest in Mauritius.
